Frequently Asked Questions
What is Cedar & Cinder?
Cedar & Cinder is a candle studio inspired by the wild edges of the Pacific Northwest. We craft slow-burning candles meant to hold atmosphere, memory, and stillness. Candles that soften a room and mark a moment.
What are your candles made from?
Our candles are made using a blend of locally sourced beeswax and coconut wax. This combination creates a clean, even burn with a warm natural glow. No shortcuts, no fillers.
Are your candles clean-burning?
Yes. We use phthalate-free, paraben-free, and paraffin-free fragrance oils and materials. Our goal is a candle you can live with. One that feels as good as it smells.
Are your candles scented?
Most of our candles are thoughtfully scented, drawing from woods, smoke, coastal air, florals, and quiet earth tones. We also offer select unscented options for those who prefer candlelight without fragrance (Lighthouse candle).
How strong are the scents?
Our scents are intentional, not overpowering. They’re designed to fill a space softly, but never demanding. Think atmosphere, not perfume.
How long do your candles burn?
Burn time varies by size, but our candles are designed for long, steady burns when properly cared for. Always allow the wax to melt fully across the surface on the first burn to ensure an even life.
How do I care for my candle?
For the best experience:
Trim the wick to about ¼ inch before each burn
Let the wax melt edge-to-edge on the first light
Never burn longer than 3–4 hours at a time
Always place on a heat-safe surface
Candle care is part of the ritual.
Are your candles handmade?
Yes. Each candle is hand-poured in small batches. Variations in wax texture or color are natural, and part of what makes each piece uniquely yours.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Because our candles are handcrafted, we cannot accept returns on used items. If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us and we’ll make it right.
Do you offer wholesale or collaborations?
We’re always open to thoughtful partnerships. If you’re interested in wholesale, collaborations, or custom work, reach out to us through our contact page.
